If you have a device that you wish to connect to NordVPN, but it does not support any VPN protocols, and you don't have a VPN-compatible router, you can connection your PC to NordVPN and share that connection.
This is only relevant if the device you wish to connect does not support VPN protocols. This is usually only when connecting Smart TVs and other TV-related devices, such as streaming boxes and video game consoles. If you wish to connect multiple PCs or mobile devices, you can do so the usual way - there's no need to share the connection.
Your PC must have more than one network interface - for example, a Wi-Fi connection and a wired internet (Ethernet) port, since one interface will be used to connect to the internet, and the other will be used to connect the VPN-incompatible device. Laptops are especially good for this - since they have built-in Wi-Fi adapters, and most of them have an Ethernet port as well.
When you finish setting up the VPN connection sharing, this is how your connection will look:
Choose a sharing method below:
Windows PC wired sharing
At the start of this tutorial, you should have a Windows PC connected to your network either by Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Please note, that if you connect your PC to your network via Ethernet, you will have to have a second Ethernet port in order to connect your VPN incompatible device. Usually, you can buy an NIC card to add a second port on your desktop PC. On laptops, an Ethernet port usually is already there, and you can connect the laptop over Wi-Fi.
You will also have a VPN incompatible device, which does not support any VPN protocols, but can connect to the internet using an Ethernet port.
Note: Make sure you are not connected to NordVPN at the beginning - the tutorial will mention when you can connect.
1. Open the Network and Sharing center. The simplest way to do this is to right-click the network icon in the system tray and select "Open Network and Sharing center".
2. In the Network and Sharing center, open "Change adapter settings".
3. Here you will see the network interfaces you have. There should be at least three interfaces - the one with the internet connection, the one where you will attach your VPN incompatible device, and the TAP adapter used by our NordVPN app to connect to the VPN.
Right-click the TAP adapter, and open Properties.
4. Open the Sharing tab, enable "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection", and select the name of the network interface to which you will share the connection to. Click OK afterwards.
5. Now connect the VPN-incompatible device to your PC using an Ethernet cable. Once you see the Ethernet interface trying to identify the connection, you can connect to NordVPN using the NordVPN app.
6. Congratulations, your VPN connection is now shared to your VPN-incompatible device!

2. Inside the Command Prompt, type in:
netsh wlan show drivers
If the Hosted network supported line shows "yes" then you will be able to setup a virtual Wi-Fi adapter on your computer. If it is showed as "no", try looking for a newer version of your adapter drivers and install them, or try using a different wireless card.
3. Afterwards type in this command to configure the shared network settings, such as the name and password:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=NetworkName key=NetworkPassword
Hit enter and you should see something like this:
4. In order to start this virtual network type in:
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
5. Once it is started, we'll need to set it up so the VPN connection is shared. Start by opening the Network and Sharing center - the simplest way to do this is to right-click the network icon in the system tray and select "Open Network and Sharing center", then clicking "Change adapter settings".
6. There you will see the newly created VirtualNord adapter and our the TAP-Windows Adapter V9, which our NordVPN app uses to connect to the VPN.
Right click on the TAP adapter and select Properties.
Go to the Sharing tab and enable "Allow other networks users to connect through this computer's Internet connection" and Select Local Area Connection* 13 (in our case it represents VirtualNord). Then click on OK.
7. Now connect to one of our VPN servers with our application. Every device that connects to the "VirtualNord" Wi-Fi network will now be using your Internet connection, which is connected to NordVPN. The device will only have an internet connection of your PC is connected to one of our servers.
8. In order to check the status of your virtual adapter you can type in:
netsh wlan show hostednetwork
In order to stop the virtual interface type in:
nesth wlan stop hostednetwork
