This guide aims at allowing you to use your SaferVPN subscription directly on your router so that all of your connected devices will be able to take advantage of the service. Please make sure you have signed SaferVPN up before proceeding with the tutorial. Make sure you have the following things with you before you proceed: A working Internet Connection. Linksys router that supports L2TP. Once you are ready with all these things then, follow our steps given below: A. Access the Router Administration Console. Open your Web browser. Go to the router's local IP address within your browser (By default, this is 192.168.1.1)
B. Configure the L2TP VPN Connection. Click on Setup and then on Basic. Choose L2TP from the dropdown. Server IP address: Enter the IP address of the server you wish to connect to. Username: SaferVPN Username. Password: SaferVPN Password. Keep Alive: 30 (seconds). MTU: Choose “Auto” from the drop-down menu. Size: 1460 (default). DHCP Server: Choose “Enabled”. Client Lease Time: 0. Static DNS 1: 8.8.8.8. Static DNS 2: 8.8.4.4. Static DNS 3: 0.0.0.0. Click on “Save Settings”.
Verify your VPN by going to www.whatismyipaddress.com/ and checking that the country your traffic goes through matches the selected server.
