This demo contains complete info that helps fix Compile error in hidden module while trying to start/save Word/Excel for Windows or Mac.
Method 1: Download the latest version of the add-in for Adobe Acrobat 5.0@ www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=1276
Method 2: Move Pdfmaker.dot & Pdfmaker.xla to My Documents folder (in Windows)
The Pdfmaker.dot file is located in one of the following folders:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Startup (Word 2000)
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Startup (Word 2002)
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\Startup
The Pdfmaker.xla file in located in one of the following folders:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Xlstart (Excel 2000)
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Xlstart (Excel 2002)
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\Xlstart
Method 3: Update Norton Antivirus or other Norton software like Norton Security you have.
Plan B: uncheck the template you're trying load/use in the Templates.
click the Office button, click Word Options at the bottom right, and choose the Add-Ins tab of the options dialog. Look at the list under the heading "Active Application Add-ins" and note any that have "Template" in the Type column.

Clear/delete the files from Excel startup folders from the locations mentioned below:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\XLStart
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
Note: Take a backup of files before deleting them.
Step 2: If the above step fails, try to open Excel in safe mode and check the result.

Step 2: Check if there are any files in the startup folder as listed below. If you find any files take a backup and delete them.
