This thread allows you to Set up PureVPN OpenVPN on Windows 8.
Follow these simple steps to configure PureVPN OpenVPN on Windows 8.
1. Click s3.amazonaws.com/dialer_downloads/Openvpn/openvpn-install.zip to download PureVPN OpenVPN installer.
2. Right click on OpenVPN installer and select properties.
3. From General Tab, click on “Unblock”, “Apply” and “OK”.
4. Right click on OpenVPN installer and select “Open” or Double click to execute.
5. Click “Yes” to allow installation.
6. Click “Next”.
7. Click “I agree”.
8. Click “Next”.
9. Click “Install” to begin the installation.
10. Check “Always trust software from “GZ Systems Limited” and click Install.0
11. Click “Next” once installation completes.
12. Uncheck “Show Readme” and click on Finish.
Now, get ready to connect PureVPN OpenVPN server.
13. Right click on OpenVPN GUI icon and “Run as administrator”.
14. Click “Yes” to allow application to run.
15. Right click on OpenVPN icon from System tray, go to desired server and select “Connect”.
16. Insert Username and Password provided by PureVPN.
Important Note: Please always remember your PureVPN username & password is different from your Website Member Area email address & Password.
17. VPN will establish connection in few seconds.
18. You are connected now. Enjoy the freedom.
19. To disconnect OpenVPN. Right click on OpenVPN Icon from System tray, go to connected server and select “Disconnect”.
Optionally, you may learn how to save account details.
20 Right click on OpenVPN Icon from system tray, go to desired server and select "Edit Config".
21. Add "pass.conf" after auth-user-pass parameter and save.
22. Open notepad and insert Username in first line and password in second line then save it as "pass.conf".
23. Open folder where you saved the file, click on View from top and check “File name extensions”.
24. Click on View tab and uncheck “Hide extensions for known file types, click “Apply” and “OK”.
25. Right click on the "pass.conf.txt" file and rename it.
26. From "pass.conf.txt", remove .txt, hit enter and click on “Yes”.
27. Open OpenVPN installation folder (C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config) and drag / copy pass.conf file in config folder.
28. Click “Continue” to copy file.
TIP: Repeat the following Step 21 and 22 to edit all PureVPN OpenVPN servers.
· Step 20: Right click on OpenVPN Icon from system tray, go to desired server and select Edit Config.
· Step 21: Add pass.conf after auth-user-pass parameter and save.
Caution: If you are looking for higher security, then please follow this guide@ www.youtube.com/watch?v=QacTOV4jCYE to disable your IPv6.
