This post helps fix error code 8504,104 while trying to update your Norton product. Try this uninstall tool PRO@ macpaw.7eer.net/c/376211/297731/1733 if you have trouble uninstalling non-Symantec security program yourself.
This error can be caused by another security product or due to a failed install when the product is being upgraded to a newer version.
STEP 1: Run the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool
Note: If you have Norton Family installed, uninstall it before you run the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.
Download the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool@ ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/NRnR.exe .
Save the file to the Windows desktop. On some browsers, the file is automatically saved to its default location.
To open the Downloads window in your browser, press the Ctrl + J key.
Double-click the NRnR icon.
Read the license agreement, and click Agree.
Click Advanced Options.
Click Remove Only.
Click Remove.
Click Restart Now.
After the computer restarts, follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall your Norton product.
STEP 2: Uninstall any non-Symantec security product (via the recommended uninstall tool in this video)
Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
Type in the following text, and then press Enter.
appwiz.cpl
In the list of currently installed programs, select the non-Symantec security product, and then click Uninstall or Remove.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
When the uninstall process completes, restart the computer.
STEP 3: Update the Video graphics driver
Press the Windows + R keys, to open the Run dialog box.
Type in the following devmgmt.msc, and then press Enter.
In the Device Manager window, double-click on Display adapters.
Right-click on the HD graphics card, and select Properties.
On the Driver tab, check whether the graphics card driver is outdated or current.
If the driver is outdated, you need to update the download and install the latest version of the graphics card driver.
Check your graphics card manufacturer:
AMD/ATI Radeon HD video graphics: support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool
Intel HD video graphics: www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect
NVIDIA graphics: www.nvidia.com/download/scan.aspx?lang=en-us
Restart the computer and check if the issue has been resolved.
