Note: Chromecast does not have built-in VPN or MediaStreamer DNS functionality. In order to use ExpressVPN on your Chromecast, you need to connect your Chromecast to a VPN-enabled virtual router or router. This tutorial will teach you how to do that.

1. Set up your VPN-enabled virtual router or router.
Note: if you want to access content from a specific country, then configure your virtual router or router with a server address from that country. You may also need to block Google DNS for Chromecast. Follow the given steps below.
1.1 log into your router.
1.2 Under ‘Setup’, choose ‘Advanced Routing’.
1.3 Set ‘Destination IP’ to 8.8.8.8.
1.4 Set Mask’ to 255.255.255.255.
1.5 Gateway is the IP address of your router.
1.6 Click ‘Save Settings’.
1.7 Repeat the above steps, but this time you set ‘Destination IP’ to 8.8.4.4.
1.8 VERIFY STATIC ROUTES SETUP.
1.8.1 ping 8.8.8.8.
1.8.2 If you get ‘Request Timed Out‘ as a result, it means that you have successfully blocked Google DNS. Refer to the below image.

When you arrive at the screen that says “Connect Chromecast to your Wi-Fi”, please refer to this section of this tutorial.
3. Connect your Chromecast to your virtual router or router.
On the “Connect Chromecast to your Wi-Fi” screen, you will see a list of Wi-Fi networks available to you. Select the virtual router or router that you set up earlier. (In this example, we named it ExpressVPN.)
Enter the password for your virtual router or router, then click Set Network.
You are now connected to your VPN-enabled virtual router or router. Awesome! You are ready to cast via your VPN connection!
