For many inexperienced users, MyPC Backup (aka, MyPCBackup, officially) equals a PUP-based attack. It should come as no surprise that the app has been flagged as a risky program due to its aggressive internet marketing strategies.
For example, after you ran some bloatware-based "security" software, you too came to the horror of your use case on your computer. The screenshot below shows it as making the situation even worse!
This is problematic as you won't be able to stop so-called "Critical Alert" from popping up in your desktop.
Furthermore, what's the below OLBPre.exe? Well, we really really want you to keep an eye on your left mouse button. There are some great reasons for that, including proactive measures that prevent foistware from installing in your operating system. If you really want full control over your computer, you really have no other choice but to deny those extra offers carefully. You can do this by UNSELECTING those additional check boxes. This is the best option if you like to just keep your computer junkware-free, so you can get it out of the way/day and don’t need to be anxious about messing up your digital world.
To uninstall MyPC Backup for Windows, do the following:
1. Before messing with it anymore, you back up your personal stuff like docs, bookmarks and other things that matter. And please do not miss out on Registry Editor.
2. Now, gain the admin access. Run Task Manager and force the annoying app (Sign-up service) to quit.
3. The following tip allow you to get the things done without the help of Windows Control Panel: you just head to the app's install folder, scroll down... until you locate an application that has an icon "Red Cross". Then, you run that uninst.exe as the admin user on your computer.
4. From the below UAC alert, you choose the option "Yes" on that window.
5. To continue with the (real) uninstall process, you press the light blue Uninstall button on the following dialog box.
6. Wait awhile. The software will be removed within few seconds. Now, it's the time to clean out software remains and other junk you accidentally installed alongside MyPCBackup.
If you're suffering from the Mac version of MyPC Backup, you may follow few troubleshooting steps as follow:
1. To get you started w/ the fix", you obtain the root access.
2. Run Activity Monitor. To do so, hit your desktop, head to the Go folder on the menu bar, then choose the Utilities sub-folder. Note down all of MyPCBackup-related hives (output information).
3. Force the app to exit afterwards. And then you go back to the Applications folder and, move that app to the Trash icon.
4. Yet another concern will be dealing with the app leftovers. Perform that action carefully when you land on the Library folder. Otherwise, you gonna be in a messy situation either way.
