First of all, if you're a Windows Insider user, assure you've logged on as the same account and that you use to log on to Windows 10. Usually, it is your Microsoft account.
Solution 1: Run Windows update Troubleshooter a few times.
Plan B:
Download Windows Update Troubleshooter for Windows 10@ aka.ms/diag_wu.
Download Windows Update Troubleshooter for Windows 7 and Windows 8@ aka.ms/diag_wu.
Solution 2: Run SFC Scan.
To run an SFC scan, follow these steps:
Run Command Prompt as Administrator.
Type sfc /scannow and hit Enter.
If the issue persists, run DISM Tool.
After running the SFC scan and the issue still persist, run the DISM to check the system health and to try restoring the files:
Run Command Prompt as Administrator.
Type the following command:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /scanhealth
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
NOTE: This might take a while to finish scanning. Do not cancel.
If the issue persists, try resetting Windows Update Components manually.
For starters running Windows 10 build 10240 and later:
NOTE: The following scripts might delete your update History, but not your Installed updates. And, make sure to run the script as an administrator.
Download Windows update reset script for Computers running Windows 10@ goo.gl/AzNjMR.
For starters running Windows 7,8.0 or 8.1:
Download Windows update reset script for Windows 7 and 8@ goo.gl/OcHNjW.

For experienced users, run Command Prompt as Administrator.
Stop BITS, Cryptographic, MSI Installer and Windows Update Services. To do this, type the following command:
Net stop wuauserv
Net stop cryptSvc
Net stop bits
Net stop msiserver
Rename SoftwareDistribution and Catroot2 folder. To do this, type the following commands:
Ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
Ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old
Restart BITS, Cryptographic, MSI Installer and Windows Update Services. To do this, type the following command:
Net start wuauserv
Net start cryptSvc
Net start bits
Net start msiserver
Restart your computer.
Other voices:
1. Re-try updating your system later.
2. Back up your personal data and do a complete format and reinstall of Windows.
Case study 2: If you deployed a Windows Server Update Service (WSUS) in an environment, or you're running a Windows 8, Windows RT, or Windows Server 2012-based computer in the environment, we kindly suggest installing update rollup 2883201@ goo.gl/xsaHnp.
Case study 3: If the error popped up while downloading some apps...
Method 1:Disable Proxy connections.
a) Press "Windows key + R" and type "inetcpl.cpl" and press enter.
b) Click the Connections tab, and then click LAN settings.
c) Uncheck the option “Use a Proxy Server for your LAN”.
d) Click "Apply" and "OK" to save changes.
Method 2: Reset the Store Cache.
a) Press "Windows key + R".
b) Type " wsreset.exe" and click OK.
